We're getting married!

As you all know we are getting married. For the big day we have decided to create a blog to provide everyone with all the pertinent information for our wedding. On this site you will find information about the church, the reception venue and our registries. But before we get to that we thought we would make sure everyone knew our story.

We met on December 31st, 2003 at a New Year's Eve party and we have been inseparable ever since. We travelled to Scotland together where we lived for a year and studied to become teachers. We have since travelled to the Great White North of Canada to teach in the village of Kangiqsujuaq in Nunavik, Qc.

This past August we went to Chicago for a week of sightseeing, concerts, baseball games and a musical. To Sayard's surprise, Neil decided to propose.

Neil had it all planned out. A reservation at Chicago's best Thai restaurant which was kept secret from Sayard until she walked through the door. We enjoyed a wonderful meal of the best food we have ever eaten accompanied by the best wine we have ever tasted. Thinking it couldn't get any better, Sayard was utterly shocked with dessert.

Neil excused himself for a moment and went back to the kitchen where the chef had created a special dessert just for Sayard. He then returned with it, got down on one knee and presented Sayard with his surprise message of "Will You Marry Me?".

Sayard said yes.

We have celebrated our engagement with friends and family, and can't wait until we will all gather together to celebrate our wedding!

The Church

The ceremony will be held at Howick United Church in Howick, Qc at 4:30 in the afternoon.
Howick United is a small stone church built in 1927 beside a river at the site of Howick's original mill. The stones used to build the church are those from the old mill, making this church as old as Howick itself.

The address is 2 Bridge Street, Howick, QC J0S 1G0.

This church has great significance for Sayard as her great grandfather helped build it and her family has been attending Sunday service there for several generations.

Our Registries

If you were interested in any ideas for wedding gifts we have created two different registries. The first is a traditional registry at the Bay and the second is called a Honeymoon Registry. The concept is that you help us create our honeymoon by selecting different things we might need to make our honeymoon special. We thought that since we didn't yet have a house and we are still living up north, perhaps we could focus on something that we could cherish right now. For our honeymoon we are planning to travel across Europe for the month of July, visiting Spain, France, Scotland and Ireland. We love the idea that you might all play a part in making this dream honeymoon a possibility.

Both registries can be accessed by the links provided on the left side of our blog.
